Spic Macay- Day 324-Aug-2024

Unison World School hosted a state convention organized by SPIC MACAY in Uttarakhand, Dehradun, from 22nd, 23rd, to 24th August 2024. The aim of this program was to promote and encourage the Indian culture and classical music. The event featured many renowned artists from across India and Uttarakhand, including recipients of prestigious honours like the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. The third day began with a captivating performance by Vid. Parvathy Baul who, dressed in her distinctive attire, sang the stories of Lord Krishna in a soulful voice. The heartfelt rendition deeply moved the audience, who joined in singing along with her, leading to a standing ovation. In addition to the songs, Parvathy Baul shared insights into the various stages of Lord Krishna's life, drawing parallels to human experiences. She concluded by encouraging both young students and adults to stand against injustice. Yet another presentation was by Padmashree Malini Awasthiji who enthralled the gathering with her captivating presentation like awakening of Krishna by Maa Yashoda. The school Principal Dr. Mona Khanna expressed her gratitude by presenting mementoes to the renowned artists. For the students, the third day also began with Yoga. In the next phase of this program, many famous Gurus who were training the students for three days in different arts, which included Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi dance, Tabla, Sitar, Patachitra. Painting, Kangra painting, Kalamkari, Hindustani and Carnatic singing and theater showcased the skills they had learnt. Despite the short span of three days, the students put up wonderful presentations on the fundamentals of various art forms. These presentations were deeply appreciated by the audience. The event brought 2000 students and teachers from various schools of Uttarakhand. Many distinguished citizens of the city also attended this event and appreciated it. At the end of the program, School Principal Dr. Mona Khanna, on behalf of Unison World School, expressed her gratitude to Mr.R.M. Tiwari, Mrs. Radha Chatterjee, Mrs. Rupi Mahindru, Mrs. Vidya Basan and all the workers. She also expressed her gratitude to all the visiting dignitaries and congratulated all the students for putting up a great show.
