Great Backyard Bird Count- Birding Activity17-Feb-2024

“The presence of a single bird can change everything for one who appreciates them.” - Julie Zickefosse Feathered, beaked, chirpy, colourful and nimble creatures gladdened the hearts of young Athenas (Grade VI-IX) as they indulged in birding activity on 17th Feb 2024. The guided Birding Session for the campus count event during global ‘Great Backyard Bird Count’ was organized in association with Nature Science. The pogramme was monitored by ornithologists Dr. Raman Kumar, Mr. Tauqeer Alam and Mr. Javaid Chauhan. The response of the students during the activity was overwhelming as the beautiful sunlit school football field and periphery area witnessed fostering of a lifelong interest in the hearts of young Athenas for nature and birds. Students derived immense pleasure spying through binoculars the Plum Headed Parakeet, Black Bulbul, White Capped Redstart, Himalayan Bulbul, Jungle Babbler, House Sparrows and many others, all delicate yet agile creatures in the lap of nature indulging in their daily chores and chirping harmoniously. Pupils' curiosity was piqued and their sense of wonder was heightened by the birding activity.
