WSC Global Round28-Aug-2024

Day 1: WSC Global Round The morning of 28th August, 2024, was filled with excitement and anticipation as a group of twelve enthusiastic girls prepared to board their flight to Bangkok to participate in the Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC). Upon arrival in Bangkok, the participants quickly registered for the Global Round, marking the official start of their journey. With registrations complete, the girls took the opportunity to explore the vibrant city and immerse themselves in Thai culture, savouring the local cuisine and enjoying the sights and sounds of Bangkok. Day 2: WSC Global Round On 30th August, 2024, the excitement continued to build as the Junior Team of Unison World School (UWS) boarded a bus to the Pullman Hotel for the opening ceremony of the WSC Global Round. The ceremony was initiated by Daniel Berdichevsky, the founder and Alpaca-in-chief of the World Scholar’s Cup, alongside his team members. Scholars from diverse countries, including Japan, Kenya, China, Nepal, and Uganda, filled the auditorium, creating a truly global atmosphere. Following the opening ceremony, the participants were divided into groups of 10 to 12 members, each representing different schools and countries. These groups were then taken to the Siam Amusement Park for the ice-breaking activity, a Scavenger Hunt. The activity provided an excellent opportunity for the scholars to bond with each other while navigating the park's exciting attractions and enjoying a few thrilling rides. While the Junior Team engaged in the Scavenger Hunt, the Senior Team embarked on a cultural exploration of Bangkok. The team visited the Grand Palace, where they admired the magnificent architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens. They spent a few serene moments in the temple, offering prayers to the Emerald Buddha, and later witnessed the grandeur of the Reclining Buddha, a 46-meter-long gold-plated statue that left a lasting impression on the girls. During their city tour, the Senior Team also learned about Thailand's rich history and the events that led to Bangkok becoming the capital city. The day concluded with a fun-filled shopping spree at Paragon Mall, where the girls enjoyed exploring the wide variety of shops and experiencing the vibrant local market culture. The first two days of the WSC Global Round were a blend of learning, cultural immersion, and excitement, setting the stage for what promises to be an enriching and memorable experience for all the participants.
