Three students, Ashita Khowala, Saanvi Sanghai and Siya Garg from Unison World School debated at the MU20 Opportunity Summit 2024. Competing with 28 teams across six diverse formats, they addressed a wide spectrum of political, social, and economic issues. Highlights of the event included an insightful debate on the Aruna Ramachandra Shanbaug vs. Union of India case, examining judicial perspectives on euthanasia, along with a lively Presidential debate between Indira Gandhi and Morarji Desai on the nationalization of banks. The team further discussed parenting topics and crafted a policy to limit election advertisement budgets, successfully challenging the opposition’s stance. Siya Garg received the 6th Best Speaker Award, while Ashita Khowala earned the 3rd Best Speaker Award, contributing to Unison World School’s victory as the overall debating champions. This summit offered invaluable exposure to diverse debate formats and significantly enhanced the students' debating skills.
