AFS India Regional Meet for North Zone21-Apr-2024

The AFS India Regional Meet for North Zone took place from April 19th to April 21st, 2024, at Sela Qui International School. Unison World school was represented by two students, Anjali Chaudhary from Grade XII and Ashita Khowala from Grade XI, accompanied by AFS coordinator Ms. Swagata Chakraborty. The event saw participation from a total of 34 schools, and it was inaugurated on April 20th at the Art block, with the principal of the host school and other dignitaries. The central theme of the meet was "inclusion." The cultural program showcased a mix of classical songs, dances, and western music by the host school's students. Renowned linguist Mr. Sanjeev Chopra delivered a talk on language diversities and inclusion. A motivational talk by Mr. Satyam Shankar Sahai, known as the Iron Man of India, inspired the attendees. Subsequent discussions focused on the vision of AFS, upcoming events, and a panel discussion on the importance of inclusion in society, featuring various stakeholders. An interactive session with AFS alumni Ms. Prachi was held in the library. On the following day, students engaged in a social service project in Kainchiwala village, Dehradun, educating women about menstrual hygiene and distributing sanitary napkins. The conference concluded on April 21st, followed by a visit to observe ‘Ganga Aarti’ in Haridwar. The event left a positive impact on the students, fostering learning and community service. Teachers and coordinators also conducted a brainstorming session on AFS's pursuits, concluding with an address by The Doon School Headmaster, Dr. Jagpreet Singh, encapsulating the enriching experience of the two-day conference.
