17th Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony & Spardha - 202417-Oct-2024

The much-anticipated Annual Sports competition, Spardha, was held with great enthusiasm on 17th October 2024 at Unison World School. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Rekha Arya, the Honourable Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development, Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Sports, and Youth Welfare, Uttarakhand. Joining her as Guest of Honour was Brigadier Govind Singh Sisodia (Retd.), Vishisht Seva Medal, a distinguished soldier who has been awarded three gallantry awards for his heroic actions in anti-terrorist operations. Currently, Brig. Sisodia is dedicated to training young aspirants for the Indian Defence Forces. The event commenced with a warm welcome by the school's Head Girl, Ms. Shreya, followed by the ceremonial inauguration of the 'Sports Meet' by the Chief Guest, who lit the torch. Ishya Jain, the Sports Prefect, administered the sports oath and presented the Sports’ report, marking the official start of the competition. The day unfolded with a variety of events, including the 80 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters relay races, as well as the inter-house March Past and mass PT display. The crowd was further captivated by engaging Zumba and Self-Defence demonstrations, which stood out as key highlights of the event. A fun-filled 'Tug of War' between parents and teachers added to the excitement, providing delightful entertainment for the students' families. As the competitions ended, several significant awards were presented. Orchid House emerged victorious in both the Best March Past and the coveted overall Sports trophy for Spardha. In her address, Mrs. Rekha Arya commended the students' remarkable sports achievements and stressed the importance of sports in shaping both individual character and national progress. She highlighted how competition fosters self-improvement and urged students to play sports an integral part of their lives. Referencing the 38th National Games set to be held in Uttarakhand, she encouraged maximum participation from the students. Mrs. Arya also praised the school's exceptional academic and co-curricular accomplishments. Guest of Honour Brigadier Govind Singh Sisodia, in his speech, congratulated the students for their dedication and participation, emphasizing the role of sports in personality development. He then officially declared the Annual Sports competition closed. The school Principal, Dr. Mona Khanna extended heartfelt thanks to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by presenting them mementos. The event concluded with the Sports Vice Prefect, Geet Kandhari, expressing gratitude, followed by the National Anthem.
