AFS exchange program to Denmark03-Aug-2024

From July 7th to August 3rd, Gargi Agrawal, a grade 11 student, embarked on an extraordinary journey to Ranum Efterskole College in Denmark for an intercultural exchange program organized by AFS. This program brought together students from Denmark, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, and the United States, creating a melting pot of cultures and perspectives. Engaging with peers from such diverse backgrounds broadened Gargi’s horizons and deepened her understanding of global citizenship. During her stay, she immersed herself in Danish culture, exploring their unique lifestyle, cuisine, and traditions. Each day presented new challenges and adventures, from navigating various cities independently to participating in interactive lessons filled with riddles and obstacles. These experiences not only made her days more exciting but also boosted her confidence and sociability. Gargi cherished every moment of her journey, forming lifelong bonds with her fellow students. This transformative experience led to significant personal growth, making Gargi a more self-reliant and well-rounded individual. The journey was a testament to the power of intercultural exchange in fostering development and understanding. Gargi’s week-wise experience: Week 1 at Ranum Efterskole College was a wonderful and informative experience. Students were shown around the campus and assigned their rooms. Lessons took place every day except Wednesday, which was reserved for trips to different cities. The first excursion was to Aarhus, a vibrant city in Denmark. Students explored the Aros Art Museum, enjoyed breathtaking views from the Rainbow Panorama, and strolled through the historic Latin Quarter. The vibrant culture and friendly locals made this experience unforgettable. In Week 2, after the lessons, students visited Fårup Sommerland, a fantastic amusement park in Denmark. The day was filled with thrilling roller coaster rides and exciting attractions like the water slides. A picnic featuring Danish delicacies was enjoyed amidst the beautiful scenery, creating unforgettable memories with friends. It was truly a wonderful experience. Week 3 at Ranum Efterskole was incredible. Students had the opportunity to explore Aalborg, where they immersed themselves in the vibrant city life and practiced their Danish-speaking skills while interacting with locals. A Casino Night at the school provided a thrilling experience, filled with games and laughter. The week concluded with a joyful trip to the beach, where students relaxed and enjoyed Denmark's beautiful coastline. Week 4 at Ranum Efterskole College was exceptionally memorable. The students visited Randers, where they explored the largest rainforest in Northern Europe and witnessed exotic wildlife. The highlight of the week was the Gala Night at school, where everyone dressed up, danced, and enjoyed Danish food and culture with new friends. It was an amazing experience that will be cherished forever.
