UWSMUN12-Aug-2024

The 4th Edition of Unison World School Model United Nations (UWSMUN) concluded on 12th August 2024, marking yet another milestone in the school's commitment to fostering global awareness and leadership among students. This year's event brought together 150 students from ten prestigious schools across Dehradun, all united under the theme "Amplifying Voices for Accessible Solutions." The event commenced with the opening declaration by the Vice Principal, Ms. Rimpy Ahuja, setting the stage for the engaging discussions and debates that followed. The Director-General, in her speech emphasized on highlighting the importance of recognizing and elevating marginalized voices to develop effective and equitable solutions. The highlight of the event was the address by the Chief Guest, Ms. Abhilasha Bisht, a distinguished officer of the Indian Police Service, who emphasised on several crucial points, beginning with the importance of open channels of communication to resolve conflicts effectively. She said that good communication is essential in overcoming challenges. She also encouraged students to build inner strength and resilience, which are vital for navigating the complexities of the modern world. Furthermore, Ms. Bisht passionately urged young women to raise their voices and assert themselves, stressing that women must not stand behind but march forward to claim their rightful place in society. Finally, she addressed the urgent need for sustainability, calling on the younger generation to adopt sustainable practices to safeguard the planet's future. Ms. Bisht congratulated the young leaders and emphasized their potential to make the world a better place. The results for the Best Delegate from each committee were as follows: Devansh Gupta from The Doon School for UNSC, Ritvik Agrawal from The Doon School for SOCHUM, Adya Singh from Shri Ram Centennial School for UNODC, Viransh Kumar Jain from The Doon School for ECOSOC, Aayush Gupta from The Asian School for LOK SABHA, and Bhavik Singh Rautela from The Asian School for HELENNIC. The Best Agency award in IPC went to Rudraksh Purohit and Aarya Jaiswal from The Asian School. The Doon School also won the Best Delegation award. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Director-General Manya Agarwalla, whereas Suhani Jindal the Secretary General officially declared the conference closed.
