7th WELHAM GIRLS' SCHOOL INVITATIONAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT 201930-Aug-2019

UWS Girls Hockey Team has been crowned as the Champions of the 7th Welham Girls School Invitational Hockey Tournament held at WGS Hockey pitch from 28th to 30th August 2019. The team overcame a challenge from 7 other contesting teams to claim the top spot. Waking up from a slumbered start to the tournament, where the team lost its first match to St. Agnes School, Dehradun, by a solitary goal, the team eventually managed to beat the formidable Government Inter College, Dehradun girls’ team via tie breaker and sudden death situation in the finals. The most exhilarating moment of the final match came when the equaliser was struck by the team with just 40 seconds remaining on the clock before the final whistle. In the league phase, the team beat Welham Girls Whites by 4-0 and overcame a stiff challenge from Welham Girls Blues team in Semi-finals, beating them by 1-0 goals. It was a confidence boosting match for UWS Hockey team who are also the reigning Dehradun District Inter School Hockey Champions.
